Dyeing Adventure
Per my usual modus operandi, while visiting my Mom I used her washing machine for crafty projects. Usually it's to felt but for whatever reason, I haven't done any feltable projects this year. What I did want to do this year was dye. You see I have this great white dress that I have worn a few times. The only thing is that I get so many Marilyn comments when I wear it (halter neck, big puffy skirt). So much so that last year, I actual did that as my Halloween costume! Anyway, I have been thinking for a while that if I changed the color, I would get more wear.
I purchased my supplies and flew them with me to MA. I was going for a red-orange color. After 30 minutes and mild wash later I had my change. It was not as dramatic as I could have wished. There were no tags but the fabric must have some synthetic as the color didn't take as well as it did on the lining (which was the exact color I was going for) but a least it is no longer white!
