My knitting mojo has gone awol and I am not sure how to get it back.
So last week I went to see a 12:16am showing of The Dark Knight opening night. Amazing movie. Totally awesome. We got there about 1-1/2 hours early which gave me a great opportunity to knit. I had my latest sock (magic looped toe-up Monkeys) in my favorite portable bag (a KnowKnits pouch) and all was well as I knit while observing all the characters around. I got a a few looks but compared to people in full Batman/Joker costumes, I was downright normal in my oddness.
Fast forward to the movie. As it starts, I drop my bag on my purse. The crucial thing to note is that I didn't put it in my purse. I know you can see where this is going. Forty-five minutes we have a fire alarm which throws everyone into a tizzy. It was a false alarm of course but staff was not prepared and there was conflicting directions to stay put and get out. I took the opportunity to do a quick pee break. As I was coming back in, my theater was being emptied. My friends had picked up my purse but not my knitting which I did not notice. We went back and sat down and watched the end of the movie, getting out about 3:30am.
The next morning, I realize my sock is gone, realized I must have left it under the seat and try to call the theater. Try being the operative word. 12 calls in 4-hours and not once did the automated system pick up (I had called the theater before so I knew what to expect). So after work, I head over and am met by chaos. The fervor of the Dark Knight is resulting in a shit load of people and staff who seem half-trained at best. After 20 minutes of waiting (because the girl helping me forgot why she was going into the back), still no bag. I figure they must not have cleaned very well and it would turn up later.
I sent my roommate yesterday to try to retrieve it. No luck. It's gone. Why? Well the staff person helping him said that because the theater makes you do paperwork if you find something, a lot of times if its not obviously important (id, keys, money), a lot of staff just chuck things in the trash.
And now I am bereft. Without a good portable project, my favorite little bag and my knitting mojo.
But I have to snap out of it as tomorrow I am heading to the premiere geekfest, San Diego Comic-con for 4 days. And there are lots of lines and waiting around. I just have to figure out something tonight.
You knit at the movie theater? I've never thought of that. The Dark Knight was awesome, best movie that's come out in a long while.

Oh that's horrible! They make them do paperwork to toss something into the Lost & Found? There's something wrong with society.
I hope you found a good sub for the project and the bag. It's terrible to lose a good carry case.
But the San Diego Con! Fabulous!

So sorry to hear about your Monkeys! If only the movie theatres weren't run by 17-year-olds.
Have fun at Comic Con. I usually go, too, because The Huz has a booth (#1033 The Those Guys), but because of my car accident, I opted out. I'm still using crutches - can you imagine what it would be like to try to maneuver around the hall with those? Especially since every day is sold out!? Good Luck!

ACK! How sad that the sock is lost. The color was so beautiful, it just might inspire me to knit it. ;)

Sorry about the sock. That happened to me at the beginning of the year and I was off my mojo for awhile after that since I was so disappointed.
Have fun at Comic Con! I'm very jealous.
